Odd thing happened today. Noticed that the Status Bar of maximized applications were underneath the TaskBar in Windows 7. Obviously annoying and I have no idea what caused this behavior.
After tooling around awhile, I unchecked the ‘Use small icons’ checkbox and clicked the ‘Apply’ button. This fixed the issue, and when I went back and re-checked the ‘Use small icons’ checkbox again it stayed fixed.
Go figure.

This has been happening to me too. It is VERY FRUSTRATING. I also use the auto-hide taskbar feature, and sometimes that also stops working (it has since XP). The windows taskbar is good if its always on top and not auto-hidden, but if either of those two features are used, don't expect them to always work. So annoying. The windows taskbar is far more useful than OSX in my opinion, especially Win7, but it doesn't feel so solid sometimes, when using either of these two features. They really need some fixing, two obvious bugs like this that have been in the OS since XP is really unforgivable. I see the bug with always-on-top, and auto-hide, at least once per day, if not more often. While I understand that it may be caused by some software I'm using behaving badly, there still is no excuse that the windows taskbar would become inaccessible. I'm now looking for a solution to programmatically reset these settings to my liking, every so often.
