I've been a .Net developer since it's inception. Some time in Novermber, 2007, I was told our company would be switching from .Net to Java. If you work for an Oracle Performance tuning company, (and I do) this makes a lot of sense. Without going into great detail, I'll say right up front — .Net is far superior to Java, regardless of the muti-platform benefits of Java.

While I still have my toe in the WinForm-.Net pond on a day-to-day basis, Java will obviously take a great deal of my time. On the side, I've really wanted to keep my asp.net skills up to date as well. I've had quite a bit of experience developing web applications, but the past several years have been mainly focused on the desktop. Not only do I expect the maintenance of this website to offer a good opportunity to keep web related skills up to date, I'm hoping to test out new ideas, techniques, and experiments.

It's insane how many things I want to accomplish with so little time. Yet I'm still hoping this site will help keep me up to date in .Net, as well as chronicle the many in's, out's, and quirks of Java.

"So what's with the dog?" That's Peanut — Peanut Head.
